la série raconte, le retour sur terre,de l'astronaute Molly Woods qui a vécu 13 mois dans l'espace. Elle retrouve son mari John qui est un scientifique, il a conçu Ethan (un robot humain) qui à l’apparence d'un enfant. Molly étant stérile, Ethan ,lui permet d'avoir un enfant à la maison.
Peu de temps après son retour sur terre Molly va bientôt découvrir que lors de son séjour dans l'espace ,elle est mystérieusement tombée en enceinte
